Prokofiev Sonata Op.28 n. 3 in A minor.
Prokofiev finished the sonata in 1917 while he was still living in Russia. The subtitle of the work is From the old notebooks, since the early sketches of the work date from 1907. It is in one movement with sub-movements:
Allegro tempestoso – Moderato – Allegro tempestoso – Moderato – Più lento – Più animato – Allegro I – Poco più mosso
At this time Prokofiev was also working on his first symphony Classical, which was also finished in 1917, but the style of the sonata defines his progression into his unique style.
